The Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club will hold a CCA (Certificate of Conformation Assessment) on Saturday, July 16, in Ocala, Fla. The CCA is a program of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) and offers an AKC-recognized title.
The MFGRC’s CCA will be limited to 18 entries on a first-come, first-served basis, with one alternate. The entry fee is $75 and entries close on July 2. Entries must be accompanied by a copy of the dog’s AKC registration.
Entries should be sent to Robin Bowen, event secretary, at 3001 SW College Rd., PMB 41, Ocala, Fla., 34474. Checks should be made payable to MFGRC.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the MADTA (Marion-Alachua Dog Training Association) building, located at 6600 NW 3rd Place, Ocala, Fla., 34482.
The purpose of the CCA is to provide education to owners on proper breed conformation. It is a non-competitive, one-on-one evaluation where dogs are assessed against the standard, not against each other.
The CCA provides the owner with a chance to demonstrate their dog’s qualities in a relaxed environment (dogs are expected to be casually groomed and handled). The owners receive both verbal and written feedback from the evaluator, and evaluations are confidential. The dog receives a numerical score based on the breed standard, and those that score above a 75 are granted the title, which can be put on the dog’s AKC record.
More details are available on the GRCA website:

Evaluators for the CCA will be Christine Miele, Janet Narushka and Margie Sarkin. The event will begin at 9 a.m.
The CCA has a limited entry of 21, with three alternates accepted by first received. Entries should be sent to Robin Bowen, 3001 SW College RD, PMB #41, Ocala, Fla., 34474. The cost is $75 per entered dog and checks made out to MFGRC should accompany entries.
All members of the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club who earn new titles for their dogs during calendar year 2017 are eligible to receive a new title rosette from the club. The rosettes will be similar to this one from 2016:
If your dog has won a new title in 2017, please email the full name of the dog and what the title earned was to MFGRC vice president Ann Rowe. Ann will order the rosettes later this year and make them available for pickup early next year.
Ann’s email address is email@example.com. Deadline for submissions is December 31, 2017.
TO ALL PARTICIPANTS IN OUR PLANNED CCA AND HEALTH CLINICS (HEART AND EYE) SCHEDULED FOR June 3rd .:
Many of you have seen the emails and Facebook posts about the Canine Influenza (H3N2) outbreak at the recent Perry and Deland All Breed dog shows. This is a very serious virus and if not diagnosed or treated correctly could lead to severe pneumonia.
Since the concern is with the health and wellbeing of our dogs we our cancelling this event. The MFGRC officers and board will discuss a reschedule date and announce it after this situation is under control. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The checks for your entries will be destroyed unless you request them to be sent back to you. Please contact Connie Adams (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like your Heart and/or Eye Clinic check returned and Robin Bowen (email@example.com) if you would like your CCA check returned.
