MFGRC Members Invited to Participate in DCM Study at U-F

Members of the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club and their Goldens are invited to participate in a study of DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) being conducted at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

Forty healthy Goldens are needed for the study, which is operating on a grant from the Golden Retriever Foundation and funding from the AKC Canine Health Foundation to further investigate a potential relationship between diet and heart function.

Participants will be required to provide the diet history of their dogs and each dog will receive an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) and blood sampling free of charge. Pregnant and nursing bitches will not be included in the study.

The evaluations will be done by Dr. Darcy B. Adin, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Cardiology), Clinical Associate Professor, Cardiology, through the Cardiology Service in the Small Animal Hospital. Screenings will be done on Wednesdays and owners may call (352) 392-2235 to make an appointment.

More information is available at
