CLUB MEETING SEPT. 2 — The next general meeting of the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club will be on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the DOCOF competition in the Events Center at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Fla. DOCOF (Dog Obedience Clubs of Florida) is an annual team obedience competition involving 30 teams from around the state. The meeting will begin when DOCOF breaks for lunch, which will be at approximately noon. Meeting location will be the lobby of the Events Center and members should bring their own chairs for the meeting. Osceola Heritage Park is located at 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee, FL 34744. DOCOF competition begins at 8 a.m. and MFGRC members are invited to come early and watch some of the very unique event. IMPORTANT NOTE: Club members should NOT bring their dogs to the meeting.

AGILITY FUN DAY – MFGRC members and their Goldens will have an opportunity to try the sport of agility in a fun, no-pressure atmosphere when the club holds an Agility Fun Day and general meeting on Saturday, Oct. 13 (please note new date). The event will be in Osteen, Fla., on the property of MFGRC founding and lifetime member P.J. Lacette, who owns the Best Paw Forward dog training facility. P.J. teaches agility and has all equipment necessary on her property. Agility training will be from 9-11 a.m. followed by a lunch meeting (members should bring their own lunch). Osteen is located northwest of Sanford and is reasonably close to our members on the Space Coast, in the Orlando area and the Eustis/Mt. Dora area.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AGILITY TRIAL — The MFGRC’s will be holding its second Agility trial of the year on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 19-20-21, at the Grand Oaks Resort near Lady Lake, Fla. Volunteers are needed to work as timers, scribes and on the gate – training will be provided if needed. If you can help at all, including all three days, one day or part of a day, please contact Andy Hall at andyhall58@hotmail.com. Also, setup will be on Thursday, October 18, beginning at 1 p.m. and anyone who would like to help would also be welcomed.

REMINDER OF MFGRC YEAR-END AWARDS – All club members were emailed an entry form for the club’s year-end dog awards a few weeks ago. The entry deadline is November 30. Anyone who did not receive an entry form and needs one can contact Andy Hall at andyhall58@hotmail.com.
