Volunteers Needed for Fall Hunt Test
Hi MFGRC members,
Get a jump start on that 2017 New Years resolution to volunteer at more MFGRC events! Our annual hunt test is quickly approaching on December 9, 10, and 11. We need a few more volunteers to help out. We need Senior marshal, test dog for Senior, equipment movers, we need helpers to pick up/ put in bags/deliver lunches, clean up on Sunday etc.
If you can volunteer a few hours or all day please contact Hunt test volunteer coordinator Kristin Sipus kjsipus@aol.com 352-229-1575. Or let me know at the club meeting this Saturday at the Ocala dog show.
If you have already told the Hunt test Chair Mike Orloff you would volunteer for a job please let me know that also so we don’t have two people signed up for the same job.

November Meeting Note
To Mid Florida Golden Retriever Club Members
We’re turning our general membership meeting at the Ocala show on Saturday, November 19, into a pot luck lunch and social, so we hope to have the largest turnout of club members we’ve had this year.
We’d especially love to see some of the members from the northern areas of our “territory” at this meeting since it’s our closest meeting to you this year.
Our primary point of discussion at the meeting will be led by John Blair (who has been nominated to be club president in 2017) and it’s to get input from members on the possibility of our club making a bid to host the Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty in 2020.
As to the pot luck lunch, please bring whatever you’d like, whether it’s sandwich meats and bread, chips, potato salad, sodas and water – all contributions are welcomed. There’s plenty of room on the property so we’ll find a nice shady spot to set up tables for our lunch. Everyone should bring their own chairs and we could use a couple of tables too (please email andyhall58 at hotmail dot com if you can bring a table)..
Our lunch and meeting will be held AFTER Goldens show – the judging program has Goldens scheduled for 12:45 p.m. in Ring 1, so it’ll probably be around 2:15 p.m. or so.
The Ocala Dog Show Grounds location is easy to find – for those who use GPS devices, the address is 10205 NW Gainesville Rd, Ocala, FL 34482.
Driving Directions:
From I-75 take exit 358 EAST which is State Road. 326. Go 1 mile to the traffic light and turn LEFT onto 25A then NORTH for approximately 2.3 miles. The show grounds will be on the RIGHT, with THE GREATER OCALA DOG CLUB sign.
From the East, take Hwy 40 to State Road 326 and turn RIGHT for 10.4 miles. At N.W. Gainesville Road (25A traffic light) turn right. Show Grounds are 2.4 miles on the right with THE GREATER OCALA DOG CLUB sign.

Agility Trial Report October 21-23, 2016
The Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club hosted an AKC All Breed agility trial at the Grand Oaks Resort in Weirsdale Florida on October 21-23. This was the second time this year that the trial was held at Grand Oaks. The event proved to be a success with the help of both club and non-club members. The club members that I would like to recognize for their hard work and support all weekend are: Jackie Hardin, Vickie Maloney, Mike Orloff, Pat Kopco, Dee and John Thibodeaux, Pat Carlile, Andy Hall, Nancy Clinchy, Ralph Orlando and Lisa Bourdreau. Without the tireless help of these folks the trial would not have been successful. Thank you folks so much for pitching in!
Our judges for the trial were Cindy Elliott Deak and Christine Bishop. Victoria MacVicar graciously stepped in on Saturday to judge for Cindy Deak as she had to attend to an issue at home. Their courses were great and all of the exhibitors enjoyed running their dogs thru the courses they designed. We enjoyed working with them, building their courses and watching the dogs navigate the obstacles. Along with the judges our trial secretary, Jill Roberts, performed without a flaw almost going un-noticed. Jill and her team have been perform-ing the agility secretary’s duties for our club for quite a while.
The Grand Oaks Resort staff was awesome! They catered to all of our needs, sometimes in a moments notice. They prepared the surface of the agility rings to perfection after the conclusion of each days runs. There were nothing but praises coming from the exhibitors relative to the running surface and the trial location.
We brought in the Army JROTC from Lake Weir High School again as volunteers to help run the rings Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This group of young adults was phenomenal. They worked hard to help build courses, set bars, run leashes, run scribe sheets and even stayed on Sunday to help us load the equipment back into the agility trailers. Their attitudes and courtesy was a welcome presence and noticed by all at the trial.
Our entries were down a bit from April but very reasonable considering there were 2 other trials being conducted on the same days (Miami and Palmetto). The word is getting out on what a great facility this is and what a great trial our club puts on. I hope that more club members come out to help, see this wonderful location and enjoy the abilities of our beloved canines performing in the sport of dog agility!

This year our specialty will be held on Friday, December 16 at the Orange County Convention Center. As it has been in the past, we will be part of the huge AKC National Championship which covers nearly a week of dog shows, including conformation, the obedience classic, the agility invitational, junior showmanship classic and dock diving.
Our specialty has traditionally been one of the largest specialty held in conjunction with the Classic with people traveling from all over the country to attend. Trophies are a major part of the success of any specialty, and with your support, our trophies have help to make our specialty so successful.
